Aims: My first aim for the documentary is to find out how stress effects peoples daily life and how it effects my target audience. The main reason for this is because they are the ones who usually get stressed over school/work life. The aim is to show the 16-24 year old that have stress and the reason as to why they have stressed. It is very important and by showing them real footage of someone speaking about how stress affects them and how they overcome it would help by showing people the affects of stress.
Content: The main areas of the content will be focusing on is first the expert interview. This is where I will personally go to the experts to get reliable and more believable information on stress and how a stress specialist helps people deal and overcome stress. The second section of the documentary would be the study and research. I plan to have a huge amount of footage to be on an interview with the specialist and what I personally gain from her and how I use it in my life. I will also include people who are affected by stress and how it affects their daily life. The last section would be the conclusion of the documentary. I would allow the viewers to be aware and to make sure they don't let stress affect their life in a negative way.
Target audience: My target audience for my documentary is 16-24 year old. This target group watch channel 4. I will be following the brief entirely as the cast from the documentary are mainly between the ages of 14-24 with the exceptions of some experts. The study will be carried out by myself and people involved in the documentary will be of the target age range. The audience are both males and females. I will try to involve both males and females in my documentary. I personally wanted different genders in my documentary so that appeals to both audiences.
Format: The mode I will be using is performative and informative as I will focus the documentary mainly on myself, as a person who gets stressed easily. As I will take part in the documentary and i will also be presenting information to my target audience. I will presents facts and expert opinions to make sure my audience have learnt something from my documentary.
Genre: This documentary is going to focus mainly on informing and educating the audience. I will do this by doing interviews which will be shown in my documentary. My main aim for the documentary is to give facts. This is because documentaries provide the audience with a narrative which is usually based on the facts and figures found after research and expert interviews. For my documentary I will try to find out why stress affects people and what is the best way to overcome stress. I have a clear narrative as to how I want my documentary to look and how I will present different facts to attract my target audience.
Style:
Camera: In my documentary I will make sure that the camera language used is precise and accurate. I will make sure the filming is formal and use a tripod to ensure I have good camera shots which are steady. This will also allow my audience to be aware that this documentary is serious and also informative as well as educational. I will also be using mid shots in my documentary as I have interviews. The relationship between the interviewee should be personal towards the audience. Using mid shot will also allow my audience to see the facial expressions of the interviewee.
Graphics: In my documentary I am not planning to use a lot of graphics as it is not required. If necessary I would use voice overs however I may use graphics to allow my audience to be aware of who I am interviewing and what their name is.This will ensure that I have a formal environment and my documentary is serious and educational.
Sound: The sound in my documentary will be the voice of the interviewer and interviewee. I will make sure that there isn't much background noise as this is irrelevant. However I may use a opening and closing sound to create more exciting atmosphere.
Mise-on-screen: In my documentary I will be showing different people who are affected by stress. I will also be interviewing these people and experts in different locations. The locations will be significant to who they are. For example an interview with the teacher will be in a school.
Editing: In my documentary I am hoping to use a lot of cuts and also keep to the pace of the documentary. I also want to use voice overs and have graphics were needed. For example the name of the interviewee and what they do as a profession.
